Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Our Lady of Mount Carmel – was commissioned in 1999 by Mount Carmel High School, on Chicago’s south side to commemorate 100 years of Carmelite education in Chicago.
The work was commissioned through Portraits/Chicago Inc. to artist sculptor Julie Rotblatt Amrany.
The 7 ½’ wide bronze is sculpted in high relief, with deep folds in the garments, and finished in the rich patina of Carmelite tones. ‘Our Lady’ is mounted on an exterior wall of a prayer garden.

St Therese of the Child Jesus of the Holy Face
St Therese of the Child Jesus of the Holy Face – was commissioned in 1997 by the Carmelite Monastery in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to commemorate 100 years since the death of Therese, commonly known as ‘the little flower’. The Carmelite Sisters wanted a new design in a statue of Therese and the Child Jesus and wanted also to depict Therese’s great honor in being named a doctor of the Church. The doctoral biretta is shown unassumingly cradled in Therese’s arm.
The 4’ high bronze is displayed in the public Chapel Niche of the Monastery in Philadelphia. The work was commissioned through Portraits/Chicago Inc. to artist sculptor Julie Rotblatt Amrany
